still have not talked to the police about what happened early yesterday morning when it tiger woods crashed into a tree. >> florida highway patrol officers arrived at tiger wood'' house saturday trying to question him about his bizarre car accident. the police say he hit a fire hydrant and a treat while driving his cadillac suv out of his driveway at 2:30 friday morning. these exclusive photos show the damage to the car. >> his wife came out of the house when she heard him hitting the fire hydrant, used a golf club to break out the rear window to gain entrance to the vehicle, removed him from the vehicle, and laid him on the streets. >> officers came within minutes. >> he had lacerations and blood on his lip. and he was treated and released from the hospital in good condition.
>> still, questions remain. >> it is completely incongruous with his image that he would be doing this at 2:30 in the morning. he has a wife, children. if he is getting something for the baby, tell us. >> tabloid reports are adding to cfusion. the accident came two days after the national enquirer reported that woods had allegedly been seeing a new york nightclub hostess. >> woods is not required by law to speak to thelorida highway patrol because it is being investigated as a traffic accident. he is scheduled to play in a tournament in california next week, but organizers are not sure if you will be there. a fire at a fairfax county home killed dozens of cats. it broke out this afternoon at a home and clifton. john gzalez spoke with the
pet sitter. about my family members and friends say these cats were everything for this couple who volunteer for an animal rescue group in fairfax county. early this morning, they took off for cancun, mexico, their only vacation of the year. hours later, the received the devastating called that the house was onire in most of their cats were dead. this disturbing scene repeated itself over and over, dozens of diseased cats being carried out of this burn fairfax county home. >> last night, they were cleaning. i don't know what happened. >> with the homeowners out of the country, the pet sitter came by it at 3:00 this afternoon and noticed something terribly wrong. >> i opened the door and a big pile of smoke hit me in the face. i cannot get in the door. >> the homeowners dedicated their lives to rescuing abandoned cats and trying to
find them new homes. at the time of the fire, at least 70 cats were inside. only eight survived. >> it was on the main level. a possibly came out from under somewhere. >> we have been talking to them on the phone. >> animal control volunteers rushed the surviving cats to a nearby veterinarian. neighbors could only watch in disbelief. >> they had no children. the cats have been their children. >> the cats that survived are staying the night at an animal shelter in fairfax county, not far from the home. because of the fire is still not known. not only did they lose five dozen cats but also seven birds. of fairfax county police say it is not uncommon to see this many cats inside of a home. in fairfax, there is a lot about how many dogs eat have, but not
cats. john gonzales -- there is a lot about how many cats you can have, but not cats. john gonzalez, abc 7 news. a woman was struck by a car and killed in arlington at about 7:00 tonight. the driver stayed on the scene. alcohol was not a factor and does not seem to be anything suspicious about the accident. the name of the victim has not been released. a congressman is calling for a review of the secret service after a couple was able to get inside of a state dinner without invitation. the salahi couple were photographed at the dinner with the president. the party crashers compromised the safety and security of the president. the secret service is embarrassed about the incident. michelle salahi is being considered a participant and a reality celebrity ship. fans at a basketball game

minority students to be involved in elementary school gifted programs. records obtained by the washington post show one-quarter of alexandria's 11,000 students are white, but they make up 50% of gifted students. 65% of students are black and hispanic, but less than a third take part in gifted programs. officials are considering several options including an aptitude test for send graders. a driver will be ok after her car was struck by a train in southwest d.c. authorities said the car was parked on the tracks at the west end of the anacostia river road bridge this morning when it was hit by a csx train. the car was pushed into the river. the driver was taken to the hospital. some people whose homes and damage it -- homes were damaged by storms that kind of virginia can apply for disaster loans. the storms caused widespread damage and flooding earlier this month. the low-interest loans will be available to people in hampton,

open their wallets beyond this weekend. >> looks like just about everybody is out here. a m early reports from black friday say there were bigger crowds this year but americans will spend slightly more than it did last year. people we spoke to say it the spending impersonal items like new coats rather than on gifts. breanne carter, abc 7 news. russian authorities say a powerful homemade bomb sent a high-speed train of the tracks, killing at least 26 people. at least 100 people were injured when the train heading from moscow to st. petersburg derailed. some survivors said they heard an explosion before the cars went off the tracks. investigators found pieces of the bomb. no one has claimed responsibility so far. u.s. commanders in afghanistan hope more aid and troops will help in the fight against the taliban. the military says shifting troops to places like the problems have made a difference.
next week, president obama will outline his new strategy for the war in afghanistan. he is expected to send thousands of additional troops. a vacation cruise was cut short by passengers after the ship -- was cut short for passengers after the ship lost power. we could >> not sleep inside. >> the power outage hit yesterday morning, seven days into the 9 day cruise in the caribbean. the passengers were left without electricity or water while the norwegian ship returned to miami today. guests will get a 75% refund and 50% future cruise credit. when the weather is being blamed for toppling trees in california, the strong wind knocking over a pine tree in the sacramento valley, crushing them. wind gusts of up to 50 m.p.h. or reported. ski reports in the sierra nevada reported up to half a foot of snow.
steve rudin has a look at the weekend weather. >> there was a bit of a chill in the air, the temperatures in the low fifties for the daytime highs, a lot cooler than that is how it felt because of the wind chill. downtown, it is quiet, dry, clear. the wind has finally diminished. earlier today, 35 m.p.h., currently 44 degrees at gw university. daytime high of 52. alexandria 34 degrees, freezing mark in potomac, md., 49 the daytime high. officially at reagan national, 52 degrees, one degree below average. the record of 74 back in 1973. across the region, the temperatures in the upper 30's, low 40's. elkins, west virginia, the higher elevations, 28 degrees.
